Private Dog Training Lessons

Private lessons are available in your home from our highly qualified dog trainer - Hope of High Hopes Dog Training. Hope will develop an individualized dog training program designed to meet your goals as well as the specific needs of your puppy or dog. The length of the program is determined by what your goals are, in addition to any specific behavior problems you wish to address. For your convenience, appointments are available days, evenings and weekends! Our professional dog trainer is also available for support via phone or email in between lessons.

Puppy Preschool Dog Training

Puppy Preschool is a fun introductory course specifically tailored for puppies who are 10 weeks - 5 months old. Some key components to Puppy Preschool are puppy socialization and owner leadership skills.

Socialization with other puppies and people is a priority at this age. Properly socializing your puppy is the single most important thing you can do to help your puppy grow up to be a friendly, confident dog. Starting at three weeks of age and continuing through 12-14 weeks is the critical period of socialization. We take full advantage of this window of opportunity and provide puppies with many positive, interactive experiences within a safe and structured environment.

Owner leadership skills are emphasized based on responsible handling and use of positive reinforcement. Owners will learn the most effective way to become a loving but fair and consistent leader. Relationship-building exercises are incorporated throughout Puppy Preschool.

The following will be covered:

• Basic commands such as sit, down, and come
• Good manners including off and drop it
• Confidence-building games
• Play biting/chewing
• Grooming/handling
• House-training basics

Dog Grooming Preparation

All dogs require regular grooming. Whether they need a bath, hair cut, nail trim, or ear cleaning, for most dogs, the entire process is filled with stress and anxiety which in some cases, can lead to aggression.

Join our Groom Preparation workshops to learn the following:

• Condition your dog to accept handling from different people
• Acclimate your dog to the tools used — hair dryers, clippers, scissors, nail trimmers, etc.
• Train your dog to stand still while on a smooth, raised surface
• Transform your dog’s perception of grooming into one that is positive and stress-free
