Dawn
Co-Owner / Chief Groomer
Dawn began her loving work with animals in 1991 when she started her pet grooming career. Right from the start, her work centered more on the humane handling of dogs and cats rather than just “getting the job done”. In addition to her talent and creativity, Dawn soon found that she possessed an intrinsic ability to “bond” with the animals. Her care and passion for the well-being of these pets became her trademark and she soon found herself in high demand.
“The health and comfort of my furry customers is the most important matter”. This is her guiding philosophy.
She would rather spend several short visits with a pet that is afraid, in order to earn the animal’s trust, than
force a stressed dog or cat to endure a painful, uncomfortable experience. Sedation-free grooming is far less dangerous and Dawn’s distinctive gift ensures your pet will enjoy a healthful, stress-free grooming experience.
Dawn has three wonderful pets of her own. Benny, a sweet but mischievous little Silky Terrier, and Mojo and Myles, her adorable cats. Sadly, Dawn is still mourning the loss of Jeremy, a beautiful and good-hearted Australian Shepherd mix and her most recent heartbreak, the tragic passing of her dear cat, Techno.
In addition to regularly attending seminars and continuing education courses, Dawn is an active member of NDGAA, the National Dog Groomers Association of America.
Ken
Co-Owner
After caring for many pets while growing up, Ken’s “fur craziness” took on a
new meaning upon the loss of KC, the sweetest little Terrier mix you’ll ever
know. The void in his life affected Ken to the extent that he truly believed that
he would never own another pet.
Fortunately for both Ken and hundreds of other dogs and cats, he turned this
loss around and used it to motivate himself in a new cause – saving the lives
and finding loving homes for unwanted animals. In 2005, Ken joined a local
not-for-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of unwanted animals.
This turnaround in his life was complemented by the arrival of Molly, an unwanted, four month old Yorkie that soon became his newest best friend. Ken soon realized that not only did he have an abundance of pets for which to find good homes, but Molly needed a playmate and Milton became a member of the family. Milton, a Rat Terrier mix, was followed shortly by Sophie (pictured), a beautiful Whippet mix that was minutes from being put down.
In 2006, Ken received certification in Pet First Aid from the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI)
Anita
Grooming Assistant / Bather
Anita's love for animals started as a little girl growing up in Norway.
She
would constantly beg her father to allow her to bring home hurt
and
homeless animals, where she would nurse them back to health. Her home
would soon become known as "Anita's Farm".
Her deep respect and affection for all furry, four-legged animals would
continue into adulthood. Prior to joining the
Fur Crazy family, she spent many years working in an animal hospital where she had many rewarding experiences.
Anita is extremely loving, caring and gentle - we are lucky to have her as an important member of our team!

Suzette
Grooming Assistant / Bather
Ever since she was a little girl, Suzette has always had a great love for animals and has a special connection with dogs and cats. She has ambitions of being
a Veterinarian or possibly a Zookeeper but until then, she’s quite content with bathing, drying and loving the pets at Fur Crazy! “I am very thankful to have the opportunity to work at Fur Crazy. It’s a privilege to care for our furry friends and
I couldn’t see myself doing anything else!”

Ashley
Grooming Assistant / Bather
Ashley has always been very fond of animals. At ten years old, she received her first dog, an English Springer Spaniel named Popkorn with whom Ashley had
a
very special bond. A few years later, Ashley added her next family member,
a
horse named Kale, and competed in many A and AA rated equestrian shows in South Florida. She also began volunteering at a local animal shelter,
which she does to this day. Her dream is to open up her own animal rescue.
After high school, she attended Meredith Manor International Equestrian Center in West Virginia, where she earned her riding masters certificate. She then started working at farm near school where she trained horses.
In 2006, she moved back to Florida and continued to train horses, including a few of her own: Ace, Sparticus, Winston, Zena and Captain. Ashley decided to expand her many talents and enter the world of dog grooming.
Ashley now attends Merryfield School of Pet Grooming and is on her way to receive her Master Groomer's Certificate. One day, she hopes to show and compete in dog grooming competitions. The newest addition to her life is her love and best friend Charlie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (see photo).
In her own words... "I am the person I am today because of all the amazing animals that came into my heart!"
